American Primitive sells out at Palm Springs International Film Festival...moves on to Sundance.
A wonderful film about growing up with a gay dad and partner in 1973 on Cape Cod, this autobiographical piece by director Gwen Wynne, is a triumph of ensemble acting. A small and intimate story, the film relies on a convincing portrayal of two sisters, here played by Skye McCole Bartusiak and Danielle Savre, and their father played by Take Donovan, who are all grieving the death of mother and wife. The stellar cast also includes Anne Ramsay, James Sikking, Stacey Dash, Josh Peck and Susan Anspach who all contributed their skill and experience to this unique portrait of love and family. This time is now for this film because it challenges assumptions about what is normal and who has the right to live and love freely. Let's hope just as many people who see films about cute puppies, can get out to see it.
American Primitive is produced by Cape Cod Films.
